I had the pleasure of attending a patio party hosted by Extreme University downtown last week. ExtremeU is a summer startup incubator serving the Toronto area with an office downtown at Yonge and King. For more info check out the website of Extreme Venture Partners.
It’s a little early to start talking about this year’s crop of startups, since most haven’t launched yet. However, there’s definitely some great new startups in the making. However, check out sunRank for an example of what this group of entrepreneurs are up to.
Whenever you get the chance, try to attend these types of events in the area. A great place to stay informed is via the StartupNorth blog. A lot of great people in the startup community post on the blog there and there’s always some interesting content. You can also check out my Twitter list on startups which includes some Toronto area content.
And of course, stay tuned from some great events from WSS this coming year!
Update: I forgot to post one of the best resources for keeping updated with Toronto tech events. The Say Yeah events calendar. These folks do a great job of keeping track of what’s going on the city.

Thanks to all for attending the first DemoCamp U of T! There were some great presenters and great questions.

Thanks especially to our keynote speaker, Rob Hyndman. For those who missed the event, or those want a second look, Rob’s presentation is available over on SlideShare.
Also big thanks to the Knowledge Media Design Institute for sponsoring the event and especially to Adriana Ieraci and Ronald Baecker who have been outstanding supporters.

Finally, we would like to once again acknowledge our partnership with Skule Web-Dev in putting on this event.

The team is now hard at work planning the next event, so stay tuned! In the mean time, don’t forget to follow @UofTstartups on Twitter for updates.
